Jacob Lawrence - “Big Jake”
MEDVETS Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Born & raised just south of the Emerald Triangle in Lake County California, Jake describes his upbringing as; “The Sons of Anarchy” meets “The Waltons.”
He’s walked many paths in the course of a quite epically nomadic life, having lived in 43 states and experienced everything from owning a mansion to living on the street. Working as a truck driver to being a music producer. One constant in all of that time has been his relationship with cannabis:
“It’s always been my medicine, one that I’ve wanted to share with people that need it, from my mom who’s disabled to my Uncle, a Vietnam veteran, who uses it for his own mental health.”
Although not a veteran himself, he founded MEDVETS in 2015 as a cannabis donation non-profit, which naturally evolved into veteran assistance organization through its work donating to homeless veterans on the streets.
Today he plans to spread the MEDVETS model across California to ‘fill in those needs that the VA can’t or won’t fill’ - and he’s always looking for new MEDVET recruits.
Deuce the Boxer

Deuce is a ‘Senior Boxer’ and he’d like you to know that all of MEDVETS success is really down to him. For where would MEDVETS be without Deuce sitting on your feet forcing you to take 5?
He’s Jake’s own therapy dog and partner in crime which means that pretty much wherever Jake goes, Deuce follows, like a snuffling, snorting (farting) and quite adorably goofy shadow.
He runs in a style that’s lovingly described as “a mix of a dressage horse and a drunk greyhound” and snores louder then a PT boat full of sailors and has a loving nature…very, very loving.
Let’s put it this way, if Deuce likes you, forget the concept of ‘personal space’ from being part of your near future, it’s all “deucespace” out here.
